HOLI HOLI!! Come again with lots of Colours & Food again...

Happiness measured with colours & food around...

Holi is round the corner, people buying sweets & some of them buying ingredients to prepare Gujiya & other snacks to be prepared on the eve of Holi for family & friends.

Even I was waiting for Holi impatiently, not only for colours, but to be frank most importantly for the mouth-watering Indian delicacies - Gujiya & Samosa my mom prepares for this festival.

There is a blur picture of my childhood days when I and my bro used to enjoy this festival of colours with water balloons sprawled on our terrace, and making every next passer by our target of balloon held in our hands. We were so naughty that we couldn’t wait for the dad till he comes up with new colours so that stock never ends. Festivals are still same but the quality of colours have really changed a lot. Now, manufacturers uses different chemicals which harm your skin, hair, eyes, fatally.  There was no fear and now you dread of  skin irritations from colours, or hair problems with those chemicals.  Now, if you happen to meet me on Holi this time, I would be all oil bathed from top to toe so that I don’t have to spend ages rubbing and scraping that Ziddi colour off my body.

In my school days, during assembly prayers, it was one of my funny habit to observe who had more colour on the body.

The celebration of Holi begins a week before the day of playing colour. We used to have a Holi celebration during school days where we all used to give a holy dip into colours to each other. I used to wonder what it would have been if this ritual might have happened on Saturday, then the white dress (which we were supposed to wear on Saturdays) would have been a proof of masti we used to have in those days. And the dialogue would have been, “Surf Excel Hai Na.”

Having said that, colours these days really have hard chemicals in them, it is advisable to choose right colours for yourself. Body actually gets exhausted after playing whole day with colours and water, and once you step out of shower, drowsiness clouds your senses. Beware of marketing gig, instead check out for colours with no glass contents (adds sparkling lustre to the colours), high chemicals, and strong spirit in them. After dipping into colour whole day, we feel sleepy after Shower which is due to high Toxics in the colours.

To avoid such colours& reactions from them, take care of following this Holi:

ü  Use herbal colours or use Chandan
ü   Apply oil to body & hair
ü  Play Holi in a traditional way with flowers, fragrance of flowers plays the role of antibiotics.

Enjoy Holi in a traditional way & to the fullest & burn the Devil on this Holika Dahan... JJ
Bring out the child in you and get drenched with colourful blast!

Holi hai!!

Jaspal Bhatti style...: P

Jaspal Bhatti being my favourite actor since childhood inspired me to do silly & witty things during my childhood. It was an advantage, being an eldest child; no doubt daughters are princess to their Fathers & used to get whatever demanded and sometimes even before speaking up.

My childhood was filled with mischief. Whether it was school or home I was always up for some pranks. My notorious acts were famous among people who were linked to me either via family relations or are friends since my childhood. They couldn’t believe, when they see me now so changed drastically. Their first question is -Is this you... whatever happened to you? It was Eid, we visited Hussain uncle’s house to wish him “Eid Mubarak”, that time I was in 9th standard and visited his place after a long time; I was sitting quietly with other kids on the couch near the beautiful table lamp. Hussain uncle knew me since childhood & was aware of my notorious acts, he asked me “Shaitani kyu nai kara rahe beta”. This was enough to make everybody laugh siiting in the room. “Everyone had a flashback of me, jumping over their sofas and throwing the snacks served in the plates”. Then he said “beta you have a very memorable childhood why don’t you write a book over it”. Whenever his words echo in my mind I am encouraged to write something on my childhood. J J

You never know where your mischief can take you.

During those days, I used to watch Jaspal Bhatti’s Flop Show and as you know kids have a tendency to copy whatever they notice around them. It was in my summer vacation, I was staying at Masi’s place in Alwar (I used to frequent her place more often).I was playing in her beautiful lawn full with beautiful Plants, 3 different colours of roses, sunflowers, daffodils etc. I am in love with nature and its beauty right from those innocent days of my childhood. Noticing beautiful butterflies flying & transplanting pollen grains and to watch plants growing filled me with happiness. It was during that stay, one day  masi brought me a glass full of “Doodh me patti” as I always wanted to drink tea & as elders consider tea not good for children, so she used to add a hint of tea in my milk. Now, what? What I did with that milk? : P As soon as she left after handing over me the glass full of milk. My mischievousness knew no bounds back in those days, I offered the milk to one of the plant to drink it & the plant said that he was hungry; my love for nature beckoned and I fed that milk to that plant. I was just copying the “Jaspal bhatti” who also did the same in his show the previous night.

You may not find my mischievous feats cute or innocent like that of other ordinary girls, I was more towards courage and valour. To back this claim, I would like to tell you one more incident from my younger days which sent everybody into despair.

It was in 90’s, my masi bought a brand new BPL colour T.V with 21 inches screen, and we visited her place to congratulate. After supper, we were about to leave for our home, just  prior leaving, I & my little brother were playing hide & seek, I went behind the T.V to hide, suddenly when I heard the steps of my brother coming towards me, I suddenly got up to say “Dhappi” and there was a sound of glass crashing down on the floor, OMG!!! What I did? Poor, I pushed that brand new television on the chips floor and its picture tube was broken. My mother ran after me  with a broom in her hand to beat the hell out of me & I ran for my life.

How could I miss to tell you about my crazy habbit of uttering words incorrectly with elder cousin sister "Chhavi", who used to play with me & we usually uttered roti (chapati) as “Foonka” and Garmi (heat) as “Gharmi”.

I have a huge potli full of lots of fun and mischievous tales from my childhood.  Will be back soon with some more beans to spill. Till then ciao!

Wish I could go back & live those moments again J J
