HOLI HOLI!! Come again with lots of Colours & Food again...

Happiness measured with colours & food around...

Holi is round the corner, people buying sweets & some of them buying ingredients to prepare Gujiya & other snacks to be prepared on the eve of Holi for family & friends.

Even I was waiting for Holi impatiently, not only for colours, but to be frank most importantly for the mouth-watering Indian delicacies - Gujiya & Samosa my mom prepares for this festival.

There is a blur picture of my childhood days when I and my bro used to enjoy this festival of colours with water balloons sprawled on our terrace, and making every next passer by our target of balloon held in our hands. We were so naughty that we couldn’t wait for the dad till he comes up with new colours so that stock never ends. Festivals are still same but the quality of colours have really changed a lot. Now, manufacturers uses different chemicals which harm your skin, hair, eyes, fatally.  There was no fear and now you dread of  skin irritations from colours, or hair problems with those chemicals.  Now, if you happen to meet me on Holi this time, I would be all oil bathed from top to toe so that I don’t have to spend ages rubbing and scraping that Ziddi colour off my body.

In my school days, during assembly prayers, it was one of my funny habit to observe who had more colour on the body.

The celebration of Holi begins a week before the day of playing colour. We used to have a Holi celebration during school days where we all used to give a holy dip into colours to each other. I used to wonder what it would have been if this ritual might have happened on Saturday, then the white dress (which we were supposed to wear on Saturdays) would have been a proof of masti we used to have in those days. And the dialogue would have been, “Surf Excel Hai Na.”

Having said that, colours these days really have hard chemicals in them, it is advisable to choose right colours for yourself. Body actually gets exhausted after playing whole day with colours and water, and once you step out of shower, drowsiness clouds your senses. Beware of marketing gig, instead check out for colours with no glass contents (adds sparkling lustre to the colours), high chemicals, and strong spirit in them. After dipping into colour whole day, we feel sleepy after Shower which is due to high Toxics in the colours.

To avoid such colours& reactions from them, take care of following this Holi:

ü  Use herbal colours or use Chandan
ü   Apply oil to body & hair
ü  Play Holi in a traditional way with flowers, fragrance of flowers plays the role of antibiotics.

Enjoy Holi in a traditional way & to the fullest & burn the Devil on this Holika Dahan... JJ
Bring out the child in you and get drenched with colourful blast!

Holi hai!!
